Romaine lettuce is one of the best types of lettuce for you as it contains many essential nutrients and vitamins. Baby spinach is also an excellent alternative to lettuce as its dark green leaves provide essential nutrients like folic acid and consuming a large amount of spinach is good for you as it provides a good amount of protein when consumed in large quantities. Spinach is overall a better choice for you because it contains higher amounts of vitamins than romaine lettuce. Baby spinach leaves also contain a high amount of Vitamin A which is essential for healing and promoting antioxidants in the body. Vitamin A is a major building block to all cells in the human body. Spinach is also very good for people who are anemic and need to consume large amounts of iron in order to correct the deficiency. Iron is an excellent source for promoting good health as it helps to promote the level of Vitamin C in the body. Vitamin C is excellent for boosting the immune system and is shown to help prevent things like the common cold. Baby spinach salads are very popular in Europe where people add hard boiled eggs, ham, and cheese to the salad to make it an excellent over all source for all the food groups.
